Instructions For Using The Air Neck TractionA) Instructions for Basic Air Neck Traction Models: Small and Large Size Put Air Neck Traction around neck. Valve can be to the left or right as it is reversable due to the position of the velcro straps and the contours of the top and bottom. Adjust the inflatable layers for correct shape and position before closing with strap. Use a mirror to help until you get used to placement. Make sure the valve above the inflation bulb is closed before hand-pumping. Pump until you achieve the right traction angle and right amount of stretch and/or relief according to comfort level or as prescribed by your doctor. You may adjust Air Neck Traction on your neck if needed until comfort and relief are attained. When optimal pressure is reached, you may close the roller valve by pushing it up. This prevents the slow leakage of air which is a safety feature and maintains the level of pressure. After use, release the roller valve by pulling it towards the bulb open and loosen the deflation valve above the bulb which gradually, lets air out. Do not squeeze the device to force the air out.
Begin gently with minor and moderate level of traction at 1-2 times a day, then move on to major traction if comfortable. When you become used to it, the device can be used 2-3 times a day for a maximum of 20-30 minutes each time, but only 3-5 minutes for major traction and 1-3 minutes for special traction. Use at your own convenience while watching TV, working on computers, reading, traveling, reclining or relaxing, etc. B) Instructions for Magnetic Air Neck Traction Models: 3 and 4 Layers Instructions: Put Air Neck Traction around neck with valve to the left and adjust the inflatable layers for correct shape and position before closing with strap. Use a mirror to help. Fasten the inflation/deflation valve before hand-pumping. Pump until you achieve the right traction angle and right amount of stretch and/or relief according to comfort level or as prescribed by your doctor. You may adjust Air Neck Traction on your neck if needed until comfort and relief are attained. When optimal pressure is reached, you may close the ball valve. Close the valve by pushing it into the tube to block airflow. Closing the ball valve prevents slow leakage of air. It is not necessary to completely block the air flow as slow leakage acts as a safety feature. After use, open the ball valve by pushing into the pocket that comes off of the tube and loosen the deflation valve gradually, letting air out slowly. Do not squeeze the device to force the air out.

When you become used to it, the device can be used 2-3 times a day for a maximum of 20-30 minutes each time, but only 3-5 minutes for major traction and 1-3 minutes for special traction. In General: The basic versions are specific for size, if you are between sizes - choose the large. The magnetic version: use 3 layer for height up to 5'-10" and the 4 layer for 5'-10" and taller.
D) For the Magnetic Air Neck Traction Models Although the magnets are small, persons with pacemakers, defibrillators, implanted insulin pumps or other electromedical devices should keep magnetic therapy products at least eighteen inches from the device. Use should also be suspended during pregnancy. Keep magnets away from computer disks, audio/video tapes and credit cards D) For all Air Neck Traction Models Caution: Do not: Sleep with it on, use as a neck brace or with recent acute, or sprain and strain neck injury. Important: Follow your doctor's directions if prescribed, and relax as much as possible during use. If discomfort occurs during use, deflate the neck traction slowly and adjust angle and pressure until discomfort disappears, then try again. When doing medium or major traction, you may close the low pressure air chamber before pumping is finished so the upper air chamber remains comfortably soft. Major traction should be followed by 30 minutes of minor or moderate level traction. If the valve appears to repel air during pumping, use a toothpick to clear the air intake in the bottom of valve. Avoid sharp objects or forceful handling during use. Avoid leaving filled with air while unused, but store with a little air still in to prolong product life. The table below gives approximations of values and times for use. You should always follow your doctor's instructions or go by "feel", however, the table gives some general guidelines.
Please note: You should not put the Air Neck Traction on and pump it up as far as it will go. You should begin using light traction and experiment using different levels of mild traction. Once comfortable with using the device, you may progress to increased levels of traction force slowly and over a period of time. |
